Thermal Cutoff Fuses – Chatham Components Inc. is an exclusive distributor for two of the highest quality thermal fuse brands available – the Elcut brand and the SEFUSE® brand.

The Elcut brand of thermal cutoff is manufactured by Uchihashi Estec Co., Ltd of Osaka, Japan. The high current SEFUSE R series of thermal cutoff is manufactured by SCHOTT Japan Corporation, Shiga, Japan. Both the Elcut and SEFUSE thermal cuffs are internationally recognized for their high quality and leading edge design technologies. They are manufactured according to ISO9001 standards, the international standard for quality assurance.

The Elcut brand of thermal fuse is based upon a fusible alloy. The high current SEFUSE brand of thermal fuse is based upon a thermal sensitive pellet and mechanical spring actuated contacts. Elcut and SEFUSE thermal cutoffs have most have most agency approvals, including UL/cUL, CSA, CCC, VDE and PSE.

ELCUT and SEFUSE brand thermal fuses are non-resettable type thermal protectors attached to the heat generating section of electronic parts including motors, transformers, power supplies battery packs etc. If the device heats to the cutoff temperature (fusing off) of the thermal fuse, the thermal element within the fuse melts and breaks the electrical circuit. However, the time required for heat transfer from the heat source to the thermal element of the thermal cut-off fuse varies with the mounting conditions. Therefore, compliance with the manufacturers installation instructions must be followed. In addition, sufficient testing must be performed with review of all testing data to determine the optimal thermal cut-off and design for a particular application. It is very important to not use ELCUT and SEFUSE thermal fuses in applications that exceed the electrical rating and temperature specifications, such as the holding temperature, normal/maximum use temperature and maximum temperature limit ranges.
