The SCHOTT SEREB battery protector provides snap-action bimetal element and adjacent PTC ceramic thermistor. In the event of over-temperature conditions, the bimetal blade will open and the battery current will flow through the adjacent PTC thermistor. The ceramic PTC will heat up, its resistance significantly increases and minimizes the current flow allowing the battery voltage to drop to a safe level. Suitable applications are Battery Cell and Battery Packs.
